Natty says, "Mmm, Storm, what's this?"

The most expensive meal the girls have ever eaten. It was given to us by friends who seemed to be relieved that SOMEONE was going to eat it. It was frozen for too long and went extra fishy and mushy. The girls seemed to think it was pretty good, and it was good for them too!

Storm eats her piece of salmon.

Meridian eats a whole chicken. These are called "old chickens" at one of the Asian markets I frequent. I think they are layer hens that have been, umm, "retired".

Storm working on a pig foot. These also come from the Asian market. They are not the meatiest item the girls get, but they seem to enjoy the workout, and I can't help but think all the connective tissue is good for their teeth and gums.

Storm eating a whole pig lung. These are another Asian market item. They come with the trachea attached, which is definitely the favorite part.

Natty and her lung.

In the fall of 2005 I was given these deer parts for dog food. Obviously I had to create dog-meal sized pieces myself which I was expecting to be a daunting task.

Starting the job...

The finished product. It turned out that it wasn't actually difficult or messy, and look at all this food! These sections were bagged and frozen for a month, as a precaution against parasites, then provided many tasty and nutritious meals for the girls.

This is proof it pays to let your friends and neighbors know you raw feed! I was given 42 pounds of individually packaged Hutterite chicken livers by friends who got a 50 pound box from their neighbor.

Not every dog likes everything! Natty likes poultry and elk liver, but clearly shows no taste for pork liver.

Gorey but good -- Storm starts on a lamb head.

What's that? The girls are presented with their first rabbits.

Storm figures it out first and starts eating.

20 pounds of "elk trim" from the buyer's group.

These are 3 of the big chunks from the pack -- not exactly what I associate with "trim"!.

Natty eats her elk chunk.

Meridian says: "GIMME!".
