I was born in Oregon, and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My maiden name is Fogel, which I changed to Evans when I married my husband in 2002.

I am a product of the Open school philosophy which is one of supporting children's interests, letting them learn at their own pace, and encouraging them to take education outside of traditional classroom walls. I graduated from Community High School in 1995. I attended Maryland Institute, College of Art for two years, and completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in photography at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2000.

Since graduation, I have worked in the photo industry in several cities including Philadelphia and New Orleans. I am currently living with my husband and three dogs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I received permanent residency status in Canada on February 23rd, 2006.
